INQUIRY UPDATE

Mrs. Graff's and Mrs. Ceel's students have been working on their ENERGY UNIT OF INQUIRY. Students have been exploring and investigating concepts of electricity, magnetism, light, and sound. We are now concluding our unit and preparing for the INQUIRY FAIR set for the end of March.  Students should be working on the requirements for their participation in the fair. The requirements include:
  • a 5-6 paragraph research-based inquiry report: The report will use the 3-4 questions that the student investigated during the unit, as well as an introduction and concluding paragraph.
  • 5-10 vocabulary words: The words will be displayed and each word must include a definition and a picture
  • 5-10 Trivia Questions: The trivia questions can be creatively displayed and should include a 1-3 word answer. Trivia questions should be based on one form of energy (electricity, magnetism, light, or sound)
  • a demonstration or experiment of an energy concept: The demonstration/experiment should extend an energy concept studied in class. The student must include a description of the demonstration/experiment and a list of the materials used. There should also be an explanation of the concept demonstrated, what was learned, and why/how it works.
Students will be displaying their work at the Inquiry Fair. Creativity is encouraged! More information will follow. In the meantime, please let us know if you have any questions. Don't forget to visit our Energy Moodle for kid-friendly web sites.
